Just as Jennie Weir found herself motherless as a girl of 11, so too did Sarah Dixon, her mother. Sarah was born in 1860 in Dent, a small village in Yorkshire, England, the daughter of John Dixon and Elizabeth Middleton. Elizabeth died in childbirth in 1871 and is buried in Liverpool and John brought all his children, with the exception of the baby, to Canada where Elizabeth’s sister, Mrs. Ashburn, lived near Mathers Corners.
