My grandparents came from N.Ireland. In 1855 they were in Oswego, New York, USA & had their son William Edward. After they came to Ontario, Canada. McCagherty was also spelled McCarthy & thats what my grandfather Samuel, his wife & four daughters used. My mother was Etta Irene McCarthy Sammon. John was b.1821 in Ireland- d. 1895 – in Ontario, Canada. Ann Jane was born 1826- Ireland d. 1907 – Ontario Canada. Any information, papers you could e-mail me would be greatly appreciated.
