Mary Elizabeth, 1950 (daughter of Grace and Gordon Nelson)
Mary Elizabeth (Beth) has always an active person, involved with campaigning in provincial elections, horseback riding, volunteering at Sick Kid’s Hospital, learning to play the guitar, practicing Reiki and on and on. Growing up in Keene, Beth spent many hours skating at the Keene area with her friends. She was active in both 4H and Girl Guides for many years.
After graduating from Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough in 1972 in Law and Security Administration, Beth moved to Toronto and lived with Aunt Mary. Her first job was at Bell Canada, starting out as an operator and quickly joining the management team. While at Bell, she decided to pursue her education and returned to full-time university, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Administration and Information Management from Ryerson University.
After 25 years, Beth left Bell in 1999 and is now working in the Engineering Department at Axxent, a communications company. Beth is often ‘Binky’ the clown at children’s parties and Binky always appears at the annual Nelson family barbecue. Beth is currently studying Career Counseling.
